Idealism and innocence conflict with professional experience as a new, kinder tutor comes in for Tsukimi. Jiji puts Kuranosuke in his place.
Summary
Edit
Usami is too hung over to teach, so he lets his friend Io take over for an hour. Io had done some asking around about Tsukimi only to learn that she is 100% amateur, and wants to know how she met Kai.
The Amars now feel bored, and decide to clean up the dress-making materials. Kuranosuke arrives to catch them at it and calls them heartless. Chieko says that it's hard on them to see these things, especially the original flower hat jellyfish dress.
Io watches the video from the fashion show at Amamizukan and thinks it's adorable how youths can get to do such homemade things. After getting an awkward response to a question about the dress's origin, Io advises Tsukimi to be more assertive when she makes conversation. So Tsukimi answers him that she didn't make the dress, but was one part of the process that they all did together. Io tells her if that were true, she wouldn't be the only one of her friends here. If she designed the dress, then she should answer "Yes, she made it" and leave her friends out of it.
Kuranosuke muses that they should try to ambush Tsukimi at passport centers across the city, but Jiji tells him to stop and realize that Tsukimi made this decision herself and to respect that.
Tsukimi's naive, dreaming inexperience disturbs Io, mostly because he used to be the same way when he unsuccessfully made clothes with his friends. Usami both supports and teases him, reminiscing, which prompts Tsukimi to ask Io why he makes clothes now. Tsukimi doesn't get an answer and falls asleep wondering why one should make clothes if not for friends like Kuranosuke and the Amars.
Learning from Hanamori about a protest against the tax increase planned in front of the National Diet Building, Kuranosuke comes up with a plan. At the airport, Tsukimi receives a call from Io via Usami's cell phone, and she turns on the news. Kuranosuke and the Amars are all dressed in the Jellyfish brand at the protest, holding up signs for Tsukimi: "Jellyfish will never die"; "You're the only one who can make the clothes we're wearing." Tsukimi cries and decides that it is for her friends' sake that she makes clothes.
